More than a hundred passengers evacuated from a Barcelona-Cádiz train due to the fire on the roof of a carriage

More than a hundred passengers have had to be evacuated from a train in Córdoba capital due to a fire that has affected the roof of a wagon, according to Adif sources have reported to EL PERIÓDICO.

The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m., when an Intercity Barcelona-Cádiz has suffered a fault in the pantograph -mechanism that transmits the electrical current from the catenary to the convoy- and the roof of one of the cars in the composition has caught fire, thus stopping in the town of Cambiador de Alcolea (Córdoba).

Telephone 112 has received a notice from Adif at 7:30 p.m. warning of this fire that has caused three minor injuries that have required assistance.

The 120 passengers of the composition have been evicted from the train and they are being evacuated by alternative means to the Córdoba station where they will continue their journey to their destinations. Travelers bound for Córdoba will travel by bus to the capital, while for the two other planned stops, Seville and Cádiz, medium-distance train transport has been provided.

In addition, Renfe staff is informing and assisting travelers at all times. Likewise, the Provincial Firefighters Consortium has traveled to the scene of the events to put out the flames and has reported that the fire has already been controlled.
