According to Foodsavers, the impact is broad: ecological, social and economic. More than 1.59 million kilos of food have already been redistributed, good for a CO₂ reduction of more than 3.7 million kilos and a redistributed food value of more than 10 million euros.
Foodsavers Middenkust is a collaboration between Ostend, Bredene, Middelkerke, Gistel, Ichtegem, Oudenburg and De Haan. Since this year, the project has been working with a new financing model that takes residents and poverty figures into account.
