More than 100,000 British postal workers lay down for pay rise | News

Royal Mail employees have quit their job for a pay rise. More than 100,000 strikers have set up strike posts at post offices across the country, according to the union.

The strike followed an action last week. New strikes are planned for Thursday 8 and Friday 9 September.

The strikers denounce the 2 percent wage increase, which is considered too low in the current inflation context. The Royal Mail has admittedly said that more money is on the table.

“There can be no doubt that postal workers are completely united in their determination to get the dignified, appropriate raise they deserve,” said Dave Ward, secretary general of the Communication Workers’ Union (CWU).

“Egoistic actions”

A Royal Mail spokesman denounced the union movement’s “selfish actions” which “threaten jobs and make wage increases less affordable”.

The United Kingdom is increasingly faced with strikes as a result of price increases that affect the purchasing power of the British.
