“It is a swimming party for our dogs from the shelter alone, so why not invite more people for that?” Animal caretaker Esther Balfoort looks around satisfied. Dozens of dogs take a dip in the pool. “One needs a little more encouragement than the other, but for the doubters we also have the piering pool.”
Asylum dogs are looking for owners
In addition to swimming pleasure, the daycare with the swimming promotion wants to draw attention to the dogs currently staying with them, Esther says. “All dogs deserve a second chance, and maybe today there are owners who still have room for a dog.”
The dog owners who came to the swimming festival on Saturday are mainly busy keeping their own dog in sight. “My dog Kees is not so much of swimming in the deep bath,” says Michiel. “But a colleague of mine who is with us must try to get her Labrador out of the water, and it has not been on the side for at least half an hour. That will be something.”
