It could just be that the ‘monstrous’ behavior of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk behind the scenes at De Wereld Draait Door will get a tail. “The stories are slowly coming out.”
During his years as a presenter of De Wereld Draait Door, Matthijs van Nieuwkerk behaved bizarrely against his staff. A few things have been written about this when the program was still running, but it has recently been brought up again. The presenter was accused in De Telegraaf of ‘monstrous behaviour’.
Tyrant Matthijs
Private boss Evert Sankrediets now tells in his podcast Strictly Private that Matthijs really misbehaved. “So, he could shoot pretty well. It is the amiable Matthijs on television who gets along with all the big stars, but behind the scenes he was a studio executioner, as he is called, a tyrant.”
Evert notices that the stories about Matthijs come out little by little. “Yes, that gives a different picture of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. Those stories are only slowly coming out now.”
Revelations
There are rumors that de Volkskrant is working on a revealing article about Matthijs and his years at De Wereld Draait Door, and that quite a few (former) BNNVARA employees have been approached for this.
The rumor that these (former) employees are being pressured by the broadcasting top not to talk to the press is incorrect, BNNVARA informed this site when asked: “This is not true and of course we would never put any pressure on employees. After all, BNNVARA attaches great importance to freedom of expression.”

Is there more to discuss about Matthijs? Yes, his hat. “Nowadays he wears a cap”, Evert knows. “I don’t know what caused that, but he always has a hat on, so apparently there was something going on with that hair for a long time. He is a vain man. Maybe not in the beginning, but he has become over the years.”
Matthijs was on holiday in France last week. A photo taken by a holidaymaker there of the back of his head was extensively discussed in Shownieuws last Tuesday.
