ABN AMRO expects the number of working refugees to increase this year by 17,500. That means that 105,000 newcomers will have a job at the end of this year. Especially Ukrainians have fled to the Netherlands since they went to work massively, but asylum seekers and status holders also find a job faster.
According to sector economist business services Mario Bersum, the number of Ukrainians who have a job again this year is increasing by 20 percent. In total there are around 65,000 at work. The number of asylum seekers who find a place on the labor market is also rising fast. Last year, when the regulations were changed so that they can work more weeks a year, even with 200 percent.
For this year, Bersum predicts an increase in the number of working asylum seekers by 25 percent. He also counts on a positive trend among status holders. There, the number of people who have a job increases by 22 percent.
Soon million workers sick by the side: ‘We have to prevent this drama’
Despite this growth, there is still a large unused labor potential. “Employers who invest in the guidance of newcomers can tap into a breeding ground for talent,” notes ABN AMRO. That not only helps in the fight against staff shortages, but also helps to better help refugees.
