In Berlin, the number of days absent from employees due to mental illness is at a new high. This was the result of a current evaluation of 11,000 Berlin DAK insured persons.
That is an alarm signal, said DAK country chief Volker Röttsches according to the announcement. “It is noticeable that younger women and men are increasingly absent from work because of these diseases at the beginning of their working life.”
According to the report, the days of absence due to mental illness in Berlin are around 3.7 percent above the national average.
Last year, there were 312 days off due to mental illnesses for every 100 DAK-insured persons, as reported by the health insurance company in its “Psychreport”. In 2021 there were still 303.
Ten years ago 250 days. In a ten-year comparison, the number of days absent rose by around 25 percent.
