The restoration of Huize Tetrode in Assen is completely ready. The national monument on the Brink has been thoroughly tackled inside and outside and has a new user after years of vacancy for a few months.

In 2021, the province of Drenthe, at the time owner of the building, decided that the monument needed a makeover. The building is more sustainable, has brand new electricity and is again highlighted.

On the outside, among other things, the woodwork has been renewed and the dormer window was tackled. This week the shutters were put back to the frames.

The Karateristics mansion Huize Tetrode is right next to the Drents Museum. The name comes from the Tetrode family, who owned the building from 1825 to 1930. The municipality of Assen then used the building as a town hall. In 1992 the province of Huize Tetrode took over.

The building became vacant in 2021, but since May it has been used by addiction clinic Elsden Clinics. That company bought it from the province. Director Meino de Vries is happy that the mansion looks slick again. “It is a very beautiful building in which we would like to welcome our clients,” says De Vries.

Many Assenaren will know Huize Tetrode mainly from the many marriages that were closed between 1995 and 2012. That happened in the landscape room, the most beautiful room in the building. On either side of the high walls there are richly painted wall fragments with rural scenes.
