‘Monica Geuze to Masked Singer? This is so stupid!’

RTL Boulevard gown Clarice Stenger does not welcome the fact that Monica Geuze is going to work at The Masked Singer and the entire format is being overturned as a result. “Yeah, I think this is really stupid.”

The helm changes with the RTL 4 hit The Masked Singer, the show with disguised singing celebrities. Where Buddy Vedder and Gerard Joling are still competing against Carlo Boszhard and Loretta Schrijver, they will be reinforced by Monica Geuze in the coming season. As a result, the two panel duos are blown up and there are now five individual panelists.

A-star Geuze

TV presenter Eddy Zoëy thinks this is daring, he says in the latest broadcast of RTL Boulevard. “You would say, Rob: never change a winning team, but still Monica there. Why is that?”

Rob Goossens, the TV connoisseur of the program, explains: “An A-star with an opinion that dares to clash and humor too. I understand that you think: we’re just going to put her in.”

Eddy: “I think they already work with five abroad, but then it’s not two teams. What’s up with that?”

Split teams

Rob knows that too. “You would indeed think: someone is going out, but that is not the case. The teams are actually split up, so everyone goes for themselves and that includes Monica. I have to say: I am very curious how it will turn out.”

He continues: “I think Monica is an absolute asset, but I am a bit afraid that we will have to miss all the comments from Loretta to Carlo and that that is one of the nice things about the program.”

‘Very stupid’

Luuk Ikink, who once participated in The Masked Singer, is concerned. “It is exciting anyway, of course, because if you have something that scores very well and works, and you are going to change it…”

Criminal lawyer Clarice Stenger thinks it’s really clumsy. “Very stupid. Yes, I think this is really stupid. That was the funniest thing, wasn’t it? The intimacy with the two of them, that they are discussing with each other.”

Unique

Eddy says that there are no panel duos abroad either. “We were unique in that, because there are already five of them abroad. You would say: it works for us, so let it be, but well: we will see.”

Rob: “Perhaps the format holder has said: ‘Guys, look what’s written here!’”

In any case, Monica herself is looking forward to it: “I really like all the things I do in terms of work, but I think that the choice between work and private life will always be a trade-off. When I’m at work, I always miss home and when I’m home, I think: I also like working so much.”
