Eva Jinek suddenly opens her talk show in recent days with a microphone in her hand, while we hear a ‘house band’ in the background. “The money is sloshing against the walls there.”

A striking change in Eva Jinek’s talk show: the program opens differently than usual this week. We see the presenter standing with a microphone in her hand, because otherwise she cannot be heard above the sound of the new house band. But what is the point of this house band? After all, they only play the leader and the bumpers.

Suddenly house band

TV authority Tina Nijkamp thinks it is very strange. “Eva has a house band this week, at least for the past few days. The house band is called Soundwise, I heard her say. In terms of sound, she can’t handle it with her own transmitter, so that’s why she has a microphone in the beginning,” she says in her podcast Tina’s TV Update.

Why does she suddenly have a house band? “I don’t know exactly, but I think it has to do with the fact that it is originally a cultural program. It is in the books of the NPO as a cultural program, so not as a regular news show or talk show, but as a cultural program. Yes, then of course you have to do enough culture.”

Little culture

Eva is of course anything but a cultural programme. “Yes, we see that Eva has been doing a lot of politics in the past week, a lot of elections and very little culture in proportion. I think it has to do with that.”

Why does Eva have to be a cultural program? “That also has something to do with it, because only in the case of a cultural program can an outside producer make the program. In the case of news or journalistic programs, a broadcaster must make this itself.”

Salary structure

Eva insisted on being made by producer MediaLane, Iris van den Ende’s company. It is unclear why. According to angry tongues, she could set up a salary structure in this way, but she has always denied this.

Anyway: that bond is pure symbolism, according to Tina. “It’s a lot about politics. Perhaps NPO has made a difficult point about this because the show is paid for from the cultural fund and not from the news fund. The band of no less than four men (!) has had very little to do so far. Actually nothing or have I missed something?”

Waste of money

According to Tina, it is a waste of money. “Bizarre, isn’t it? But AvroTros is supposedly stopping Flikken Rotterdam due to ‘cutbacks’. What nonsense.”

She concludes: “The money is sloshing against the walls there. Including an equity of 30 million plus for the broadcaster (!!!).”
