Water safety alarms already exist, but none could allay the anxiety of Valérie Stoop (42) when her children played in a garden with a swimming pool or on a busy beach. That is why, together with Belgian engineers, she developed Kidô, a wearable alarm that warns within 0.3 seconds when a child wanders too far on the beach or is underwater in the pool for too long. “Many parents are deeply afraid of their children drowning.”
