Moby appears at the film nights on the banks of the Elbe in Dresden in the summer. You can find out how much the tickets cost and what else is important here.
Moby is currently on the road more live again – and is also stopping off in Germany. On August 11th, the American musician will perform in Dresden as part of the Film Nights on the banks of the Elbe.
The concert is presented by MUSIKEXPRESS. Tickets are currently available for around 70 euros and can be purchased via Eventim, for example. This makes the show one of the musical highlights of the summer in the Saxon state capital.
What defines Moby as an artist
Moby has stood for a unique mix of electronic music, ambient, punk attitude and spiritual influences for decades. His sound combines club-friendly beats with emotional depth, often complemented by gospel, blues or soul samples. At the same time, he is known for his clear stance: whether veganism, animal rights or socio-political issues – his music and public persona are closely linked to his beliefs.
Career and breakthrough
Moby celebrated his international breakthrough at the end of the 1990s with the album “Play”, which gained worldwide fame through numerous licensing in films and commercials. Tracks like “Porcelain” or “Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?” made him one of the first electronic acts to make the leap into the mainstream without losing their artistic identity. In the years that followed, he remained easily productive, experimenting with different genres and regularly releasing new music – both commercially successful and consciously pared-down, introspective works.
Origin and musical beginnings
Moby was born Richard Melville Hall in New York. His musical career began at a young age: he initially played classical instruments such as guitar and piano before becoming active in the punk and hardcore scene. In the 1980s he was part of various bands before he increasingly turned to electronic music. The club culture of the late 80s and early 90s, particularly in New York, played a crucial role in his development as a producer and DJ.
Influences and musical roots
Moby’s music is heavily influenced by an unusually wide range of influences. In addition to electronic pioneers from techno and house, his sources of inspiration also include gospel, blues and classical music. His fascination with old field recordings of American spirituals, which he later integrated into his tracks, was particularly formative. At the same time, the raw energy of punk remains a central part of his artistic self-image – a mixture that will likely be evident again at his performance in Dresden.
