Explosive interview puts relationship on edge

After the 3-3 draw against Leeds United, Salah gave a striking interview on Saturday. In it he stated that “someone wants him to leave” and that his relationship with Slot “is no longer there”. According to Sky Sports and The Athletic no final decision has yet been made about his selection, as the attacker simply trained on Monday.

The statements come just two days after an earlier tirade in which Salah said he had been “thrown under the bus” and that the match against Brighton could be his last at Anfield.

Salah is on the bench and doesn’t know why

Salah started the last three games on the bench. Striking, since he has almost always been a permanent fixture and figurehead of the club since his arrival in 2017. However, his season has been difficult: five goals in eighteen games, while Liverpool is also looking for stability.

“I have done so much for this club, especially last season,” Salah told reporters. “Now I’m sitting on the couch and I don’t know why.”

Salah about his relationship with Slot

And: “I have often said that I had a good relationship with the manager, but suddenly we no longer have a relationship. I don’t know why, but it seems to me that someone doesn’t want me in the club.” When asked whether his relationship with Slot had ended, he said: “Yes, there is no longer a relationship between us. It was a very good relationship and now suddenly there is no relationship anymore.”

It was also suggested that Saturday’s match against Brighton at Anfield could be his last for the club, meaning the trip to Inter would be Salah’s penultimate appearance for The Reds would be, as the 33-year-old player joins Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations next week. There are rumors that he could leave for the Saudi Pro League in January.

Salah’s last match for Liverpool?

“I said to (my family, ed): come to the match against Brighton. I don’t know if I’m going to play, but I’m going to enjoy it. In my head I’m going to enjoy that match, because I don’t know what’s going to happen now. I’ll be at Anfield to say goodbye to the fans and go to the African Cup of Nations. I don’t know what’s going to happen when I get there.”

When asked if this could be his last game for Liverpool, Salah replied: “In football you never know. I don’t accept this situation. I have done so much for this club.”

Slot will respond tonight

Liverpool coach Slot will speak to the media at 6.45 pm prior to the match against Inter. It is expected that questions about Salah’s future, his statements and their mutual relationship will be central.
