Mo Farah will not compete in the London Marathon

Four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah has canceled his start in the London marathon on October 2.

The British track and field star justified this with a hip injury that he sustained in training.

“I’ve had pain and tension in my right hip for ten days,” said Farah.

Even after treatments and physiotherapy, there is not enough time to be completely fit at the start.

Farah, who publicly revealed in a BBC documentary last July that he was brought to the UK illegally as a child and under a false name, has not completed a marathon since 2019.

The 39-year-old is now hoping to make a new attempt at the London Marathon next year.

“I’ve been training really hard over the past few months, getting back into good shape and feeling pretty optimistic that I’ll be able to perform well,” said Farah.

Earlier in the month he had won the half marathon in the English capital, showing improving form.
