Missing girls were with grandmother, father of the youngest files a report

A few days after missing Renée (14) from Bergen op Zoom and Louise (16) from Vlissingen were found, it is becoming increasingly clear what happened. The two children who were missing for a week were said to have slept with Louise’s grandmother in Vlissingen all that time. That’s what they told Sander de Groot, Renée’s father. He has now filed a report against the grandmother.

The two minor girls were reported missing on Sunday, January 14. They were in a closed youth institution in Ossendrecht and suddenly disappeared when they were allowed outside unaccompanied. For days, Renée’s father went door to door with flyers looking for his daughter and he contacted the media. On Saturday, the two reported to the police in Vlissingen and were taken back to the institution.

“She simply withdrew the children from parental authority.”

Sander, Renée’s father, spoke with the girls there. They allegedly told him that they were with Louise’s grandmother all week. Louise’s mother also confirmed this to BN DeStem. “During the day and at night they were with grandma and in the evening they went out,” says Sander. He finds it incomprehensible. “This case has received all the media attention. She simply withdrew the children from parental authority.”

Sander has filed a report against the grandmother. The police confirm that a report has been filed, but cannot say anything about the details.

Police previously said that the children had made the plan in advance to run away. Father Sander doesn’t believe that. “This was a spontaneous action with major consequences,” he says. “Renée is severely autistic and does not see the consequences of her actions.”
