Missed Olympic chance – ski jumper Kramer: “Is the world really that unfair?”

Zhangjiakou (AP) – Ski jumper Marita Kramer was frustrated and sad after missing her chance at the Olympics.

The 20-year-old Austrian, who cannot travel to Beijing for the Winter Games because of several positive corona tests, wrote on Instagram: “No words, no feelings, just emptiness. Is the world really that unfair? I’ve been at the Olympics for the last few years I’ve put so much time and energy into this to make my dreams come true. Now it feels like my dreams were shattered in a day.”

Kramer was the best ski jumper this winter and was the favorite for gold for the Olympic individual on Saturday (11.45 a.m. / ARD and Eurosport). Rival Katharina Althaus, who could benefit athletically from Kramer’s absence, was also emotionally moved. “I’m so sorry. Stay strong,” Althaus commented on the social network. Countrywoman Lisa Eder was nominated for Kramer by the association.
