Mischa Blok does not understand the fuss about Rafael van der Vaart’s statements at all. According to her, it is simply a fact that all Asians look alike. “All black hair and brown eyes.”
Rafael van der Vaart has apologized for a television joke after the Netherlands’ World Cup match with Japan (2-2). An Orange player, Van de Ven, did not run with a Japanese in the final phase at a corner. Possibly he didn’t know which man to pick up, Rafael joked. “They do look alike, of course, so maybe Van de Ven thought that.”

It is crazy that there has been such a fuss about this, Mischa thinks. “A lot of Asians also look alike,” she says The Friday Move. “When I’m in South Korea… Just imagine: I’m with family at a busy airport, for example, and we’re constantly losing each other.”
She continues: “Everyone has black hair, everyone is the same size, everyone has brown eyes and somewhat the same build. It is said that Asians also think that of Westerners, but look around you: there is so much variation. You have blond hair, you have brown hair.”
Fascist
Mischa made similar statements on NPO Radio 1 and she received a lot of criticism. “Then you get hatred from your own community and then I am the fascist. I am a bit done with that. Everything you say makes you a fascist.”
Anyway: Rafael has expressed regret. He said: “I understand that some people found my words offensive. I sincerely regret that. If I offended anyone, I apologize. That was never my intention.”
