Mirjam (61) helps parents in poverty with Sinterklaas gifts: ‘It is more than distressing, some children even walk in shoes that are too small’

It is not self-evident for every child that Sinterklaas leaves a bag of presents at the door or fills the shoes. Mirjam Velthuis (61) is committed to helping as many children as possible enjoy our national festival. She has been associated with the Sinterklaas project De Pakjesboot for four years. Mirjam works as a coordinator at Humanitas, is married and the mother of two adult daughters.
