Ministry confirms death of three Dutch people in Peru

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that three Dutch people have died in a plane crash in Peru. The victims are two young men aged 18 and 19 from the Veluwe region and a man aged 30 from Utrecht, a ministry spokesman said. He could not give more information.

Peruvian media reported Friday that the single-engine plane, which was making sightseeing flights for tourists, had crashed in the south of the South American country, near the world-famous and ancient Nazca lines. These are animal figures and geometric figures that are made on the ground, but are best seen from the air. The plane had only just taken off when it crashed for unknown reasons and burned out after an explosion.

In addition to the three Dutchmen, the other passengers also died, two Chilean passengers and the two Peruvian pilots.
