In Brussels, Minister Caspar Veldkamp (Foreign Affairs) spoke with his Romanian colleague Emil Hurezeanu about the art. Veldkamp said he emphasized against the NOS That the Netherlands is doing everything it can to get the stolen objects back. The conversation was in Brussels, where the ministers are for a meeting of the European Union.

In Romania there was a critical response to the loan agreement. Asked about this, Minister Veldkamp contradicts that there is disagreement between the countries. “There is no cold in the air at all. We talked about our collaboration when it comes to tracing the perpetrators of this terrible theft,” says Veldkamp.

“We are also very shocked in the Netherlands by this art robbery. I also realize how important it is and how it falls into the Romanian context. It is really very special works of art from a very special period.”

Prior to the Auschwitz commemoration, Prime Minister Dick Schoof briefly spoke with the Romanian Minister of Culture. In that conversation, Schoof has again repeated that the Netherlands thinks it is terrible that the art pieces have been stolen and that everything is being done to detect the perpetrators and find the pieces of art.
