After lengthy consultations between the City of Bruges and the Flemish government, several projects were once again included in the investment programme. Minister Peeters mainly focuses on cyclists, road safety and sustainability. “We are particularly pleased to see that the good relationship with Minister Peeters and the many consultations between our administrations pay off. We prove time and again that we are good partners who reinforce each other to realize important projects together,” says Mayor Dirk De fauw in a press release.

Important projects

Some important investments are planned. Among other things, the minister has earmarked some 16.7 million euros for the R30 station area project. In concrete terms, this means that they will eliminate the unsafe situations on the R30 and redesign the area around the station towards the centre. In addition, 3.1 million euros has been earmarked for the new bicycle and pedestrian bridge. A total budget of around 24.2 million euros has also been set aside for the project for the new sea lock in Zeebrugge.
