Minister Hanke Bruins Slot received a crash course in the Drentse language during a working visit to the Association of Drenthe Municipalities at the Huus van de Taol on Wednesday.
‘She learned quickly about the backgrounds of Drenthe and why you can safely beat a nephew to death in Drenthe,’ reports the regional language organisation.
Prior to her visit to the Huus van de Taol, the minister discussed the cooperation between the authorities in Drenthe with administrators from Drenthe.
The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations promotes the preservation of recognized languages, including Low Saxon, to which Drents belongs. The Huus van Taol was founded in Drenthe to implement this.
