Today, Minister de Jonge for Housing and Spatial Planning, together with NVM, VBO, Vastgoedpro and Vereniging Eigen Huis, signed the improvement plan ‘Trust in the buying process’. This agreement is intended to clarify the rules for real estate agents, sellers and buyers when buying a house and to make information more transparent for buyers and sellers.

Minister de Jonge: “Buying a house comes with a major financial obligation for many people. That is why the rules must also be clear to everyone. So that the process is transparent and there is no room for acting with integrity. This improvement plan is a good and necessary step that the industry is taking. The buyer or seller of a house must be able to rely on a fair and transparent buying process.”

Improvement plan

The improvement plan must ensure that the industry codes of conduct are comprehensible, clear, concrete and easy to find. The current codes of conduct are therefore being tightened up. In addition, the sector associations have already agreed that they will introduce independent and non-associative disciplinary law. Brokers will provide prospective buyers and sellers with insight into the course of the bidding process by making a digital bidding log available. The ministry has promised to further explore the possibilities of making a bidding log for the sale of a house industry-wide mandatory.
The improvement plan has been signed by NVM, VBO, Vastgoedpro, Vereniging Eigen Huis and the Minister for Housing and Spatial Planning.
