The Flemish Minister for the Interior Hilde Crevits declares the regulation of the municipality of Aalter on residential checks in registrations in the population register illegal. The CD&V minister does this after a complaint about possible discrimination by the municipality. A disciplinary procedure against Mayor Pieter de Crem (CD&V) is not yet coming. Mieke Schauvliege, green party leader in the Flemish Parliament and in the Aalterse city council, responds dissatisfied.
