The Movistar Arena became the stage of a hybrid show between political campaign, literary presentation and rock recital starring the president Javier Milei. Under strident lights, apocalyptic screens and “The presidential band“That accompanied every step, the president sought to convert the presentation of his book”The construction of the miracle “ in a demonstration of symbolic force to underpin your leadership on the eve of the October 26 elections.

Hours before the presentation, the president recorded from a cell phone the sound test of the musical group. In live transmission the sound test through its social networks, it showed musicians, technicians and instruments aligned under the scenic structure, while greeted mocking. “I am the one who has to work in all this, because I only sing” and “prepare for a show of the rush mother. Long live the freedom, fuck”, are some of the statements in front of the Chamber, that the portal the chancellor disclosed on social networks.

With that gesture, the president suggested that the event would be more than a speech, anticipated a format where the political and the performative would converge. An open corridor between stalls, screens with explosions and buildings collapsing, everything worked as a prologue of a theatrical irruption. From the bottom of the stadium the president appeared, walking among the people, until he took the stage after a few minutes and embrace his sister Karina.

The repertoire traveled Argentine rock classics and some personal adaptations of popular songs, such as Give me Sandro’s fire either Nino Bravo Freewith a visual setting loaded with ideological propaganda: images of the Berlin wall, attacks, barbed wires and deaths projected in synchrony with the interpretation. The band was composed of the national deputy Alberto “Bertie” Benegas Lynch On drums, his brother Joaquín On the first guitar, the presidential biographer Marcelo Duclós on bass and legislator Lilia Lemoine, In the choirs, in addition to other musicians. A replica of the posts that resembled those used by Milei himself in his presidential campaign.

A solemn show of the show was the tribute to the state of Israel, which he defined as “the Bastion of the West”, and demanded defense against what he considered ideological attacks of the left to the Judeo -Christian world. He then sang Hava Naguila. Then, he retired to change clothes and return to the stage wrapped in an Argentine flag, reciting the national anthem and interviewed by his spokesman Manuel Adorni as an institutional auction of the event.

The public, estimated between 14,000 and 15,000 people, was largely composed of related militants, groups such as The forces of the sky of Santiago Caputo, The unshakable of Sebastián Pareja and followers who lived the event with almost liturgical fervor. Outside the stadium there were security operations to contain opposition demonstrations and posters in nearby streets that said: “Milei: the only miracle is to reach the end of the month.”

In national political sensitivity, the act arrives at a time of urgency for the ruling party. Just a few hours before, José Luis Espert He resigned from his candidacy due to links with drug trafficking, leaving Milei without one of his main referents for the deputies. In that context, the staging of Movistar Arena was an attempt to rebuild narrative and reaffirm leadership, before its electoral base, in a complex economic and political situation.
