One step away from the start of the games, the 41-year-old reveals the nature of her injury after the bad fall in Crans Montana. The goal is to try to get on track anyway: “I knew my chances, I know that the opportunities are no longer the same, but I still feel solid, even with the help of a brace”

Alessandro Simonetta

February 3 – 4.58pm – MILAN

Bad news for Lindsey Vonn, Vancouver 2010 gold medalist. The American spoke about her condition at a press conference in Cortina, clarifying things after the bad fall she suffered on the Crans Montana descent and the resulting knee pain. The situation, unfortunately, is not the best, given that Vonn announced that she had damaged her left cruciate ligament. The scenario changes for her at this point, but not definitively. Expectations are lower, but the desire to try and get on track is still intact. A situation, that of Vonn in Milan-Cortina, which could make her Olympics even more epic. Here are his words.

vonn’s words

So today in the press conference the US champion: “I completely broke my left cruciate”. Confidence remains, however: “”Today I put on skis and I felt stable, confident. I’ll try to compete in the downhill on Sunday.” And then “being here at 41 makes me happy.” On the knee situation: “Surgery? Of course it has been evaluated by doctors, but it cannot be considered now because now there are only the Olympic Games. We stay in touch to ensure we make the best choice.”
