Mikko Kivinen sat in a wheelchair on Yle’s broadcast – A terrible accident took away the ability to walk

Actor-musician Mikko Kivinen we saw Yle on Sunday evening Arto Nyberg program as a guest together with rower Konkari Jari Saarion and director-writer Saara Cantelli with.

65-year-old Kivinen has recently been celebrating The birds of Lapland -the band’s 40th anniversary from the sky during the band’s celebration tour in places like Seinäjoki and Tampere.

Kivinen’s appearance in the program while sitting in a wheelchair attracted attention. Kivinen said that he fell badly about a year ago and is currently learning to walk again in rehabilitation.

Right at the beginning of the interview Arto Nyberg asked Kivinen about the loss of his ability to walk. Kivinen said that he has been in a wheelchair since the summer of 2022.

– In that (fall) the injury happened to that cervical vertebra, Kivinen described his accident last year, where he said he fell on his forehead on the stone floor when he had bent down to take his dog off the leash.

– We walk here with a rollator. It’s a long proggis. As the physiotherapist said, this is not a marathon but an ultra, he added and said that he can already walk hundreds of meters with a rollator.

Kivinen said that in connection with the fall, a stenosis was also found in his neck, which was successfully operated on in the hospital.

The motivation is right

Kivinen said that the journey to recovery has required a lot of training. However, the man has rehabilitated himself diligently.

– Yes, I have the right motivation. When I woke up from the operation, I could only move my right front toe. Even then, I said that my intention is to return to working life, that my motivation has been right all along.

– You can’t leave Duuni, he added.

Despite the wheelchair, according to Kivinen, the celebration tour of Lapinlahti’s birds has gone well.

– The gigs have gone very well. Tap (Tapio Liinoja) has told this story that from the top up I’m the same asshole as before, Kivinen laughed.

Mikko Kivinen has had a long career in the theater, and he is known as an original member of the band Lapinlahti linnut. He has also acted in, among other things Cuckold and Battery on in series.
