“Don’t let Hulu fool you. I don’t support their story about my life. It’s not 1822. It’s 2022,” Tyson wrote on Instagram. “They stole my life story and didn’t pay me. To Hulu managers, I’m just a ****r they can sell on the auction block.”
Showrunner of the project, Karen Gist, spoke about the series during Hulu’s Television Critics Tour panel last week. She said the aim was to make as neutral a series about the boxer as possible. “We just wanted to tell an unbiased story and let the public decide what they think or feel,” Gist said. “We hope that after seeing the series, people will have something to think about.”
After the announcement of the miniseries about his life and career in February 2021, the former boxer already expressed his dissatisfaction with the production. Now that the launch is scheduled for the end of August, he has spoken again about it.
