Mika Poutala, elected to Parliament, woke up this morning to a harsh situation – “This is the reality”

Sunday was one Mika Poutalan39, from the greatest days of his life, when he was elected to parliament.

However, the Christian Democrats’ festive election supervisors quickly changed to a different landscape when Monday came.

– We just went on a trip to pick up roadside advertisements. This is the reality, Poutala laughs from the road.

– Yes, this will probably take a couple of working days. It took 3-4 working days to install them.

More than 200 of Poutala’s election ads have been distributed in Uusimaa, as far as Kirkkonummi, Lohja and Kerava.

Fortunately, the ex-speed skater was elected to parliament. Otherwise, the coming days could be dark.

– In a different situation, it would be a bit more boring to collect those ads.

Poutala’s election day ended around half past 1 in the morning, when he arrived home in Espoo from the party office. A somewhat unusual dinner was waiting for the man on the kitchen table.

– I ate my wife’s leftover pizza at night. I think it was a ham-pineapple-plough cheese pizza.

Put on a suit

Another ex-sports star, a soccer player, was also elected to Parliament on Sunday Timo Furuholm35.

Furuholm headed to the Forte nightclub in Turku, which he already knew from his playing years as one of the election supervisors of the Left Alliance. However, not even the disco lights could make the party’s weak success be forgotten.

– This general election result overshadowed the celebration a little. It was quite a disappointment for us, Furuholm states.

– There were party members in the party spirit.

In the case of Furuholm, Monday is dedicated to shopping. A fresh member of parliament can’t walk into the parliament building in Turku Inter tracksuits, no matter what kind of companion you are.

– Wearing a suit has not really been a part of everyday life at any point in life. But now it will probably have to be added. Maybe we need to invest in it now, he says.

– I do have some suits left over from my football career, but they have already seen their best days. I have to take them to the flea market to sell.

The day’s program also includes taking care of backlogs. A lot of them have piled up in the last few weeks.

– I was quite focused on that campaign, and it took most of my thinking, visioning and creativity. Everyday chores took a bit of a back seat, Furuholm admits.
