Miikka Muurinen played a good three minutes in Partizan’s Euro win. PDO
On Wednesday Miikka Muurinen got the opening minutes of his career on the Euroleague floor when his club Partizan played in the Spanish capital against the local Real Madrid.
Muurinen’s statistics included only one missed shot in three and a half minutes.
On Friday, the away tour of the Belgrade club continued on the Basque side, where Partizan challenged Hanno Möttölän of the old club Baskonia.
This time, Muurinen got involved for the first time at the end of the second quarter, when he substituted Duane Washington in the field.
Right at the start, the Finn knocked an easy defensive end rebound over the line, and thanks to that, Baskonia got an offensive turn for free.
At the other end, Muurinen was looking for the first Euroleague goal of his career, but the hosts’ Croatian reinforcements Luka Šamanić stopped him against the rules.
Muurinen scored his first Euroleague point from the free throw line. The second throw then missed.
Experienced head coach of Partizan Željko Obradović has calmly pushed the Finnish promise into the game of the top team. After the break, Muurinen only flashed on the field for a good 40 seconds without any statistical entries.
When we started the last quarter with the visiting team leading by two points, 66–64, neither Obradović nor Muurinen could find a suitable role on the field.
In the end, Partizan collected a valuable 91–79 away victory. Baskonia has lost every game in this season’s Euroleague season.
Muurinen had one point left in his statistics in 3:35.
Partizan’s Euroleague continues next Friday, when Paris Basketball comes to Belgrade.
