The hockey community was faced with a sad news on Sunday. Miika Elomo died at the age of 47.
The Turku-based ex-top player worked this season at the Jokers de Cergy-tonno in the French League.
Elomo married his partner Maria Desu with 4 February. On Monday, Autio answered by message and wanted to say a few words about his husband.
– We could not have seen the happiest signs for the last time. We got married. We laughed and planned future adventures, Autio said.
Autio described Elomo as his basic rock.
– He was the “guy” in the best possible sense of the word. Never took the back steps and always defended me and my loved ones.
– In addition, he had a completely unbeatable, intelligent sense of humor, to which his whole essence and positive energy culminated in.
In Sunday’s announcement, Jokers de Cergy-Ponnoise forwarded participants to Elomo’s relatives.
– It’s tremendous sadness and miss, Autio decided.
From Turku to Europe
Elomo was seen in four seasons behind the TUTO bench. Jaakko Stenroos
Elomo represented TPS, HIFK and Blues in the SM League. He won Finnish Championship gold at HIFK in 1998 and at TPS in 1999. There were a total of 230 league games and 55 points (26+29).
The coaching career started properly in Turku as Elomo became an assistant coach for the TPS league team in 2012-13. In the 2014-15 season, Elomo became TPS head coach when I guess Suikkanen got fired.
The head coach ended in the same season.
Elomo worked as head coach of the Mestis club TUTO for four seasons until he headed to Europe. The road first took me to Norway, from there to Poland and the second season to France.
After the Norwegian League Pest, Elomo was also seen in the coaching team of the Finnish under-20 national team.
