A real CVP star, but one with her own opinion on abortion and euthanasia. Minister of State Miet Smet died in her sleep at the age of 81 in a residential care center in Destelbergen. The widow of former Prime Minister Wilfried Martens — the man she had waited for all her life — had suffered from Alzheimer’s in recent years. Together with former journalist Frieda Joris, who wrote Smet’s memoirs, we reconstruct her last years of life and how she moved more than a stone in the Wetstraat.
