Municipality of Midden-Drenthe continues with a new coalition. After the collaboration between Municipal Interests Bbondenmate, CDA and PvdA clapped in February, a new daily management was sought.
The city council asked Sandra Korthuis to investigate the possibilities for a stable coalition as an informer. Which parties join and what they have agreed will be announced on Monday evening in an extra inserted council meeting.
Midden-Drenthe ended up in a administrative crisis due to disagreement about the million renovation of the town hall. A petition from Municipal Interests Bbbondezaal-councilor Hetty Meijering-Kerssies, with the aim of postponing the renovation, was not well received by coalition colleagues CDA and PvdA.
Party leader Jannes Kerssies from Gemeentebelangen Bbbondummer then questioned cooperation within the coalition. “I feel that the respect for us is completely gone,” he said towards fellow councilors. “I see fractions that can drink the blood of our Hetty, so to speak.” Alderman and party member Rico Schans then drew his conclusions and stepped up.
Korthuis (VVD) needed more than a month to form a new coalition that completes the council term. There will be elections next March.
