Following from Assen and Emmen, Midden-Drenthe is also taking the cut for a free visit to the Kamp Westerbork memorial center. The municipality makes a thousand admission tickets available.

Midden-Drenthe finds the remembrance center an important place to ‘reflect on freedom and exclusion’. In April and May, freedom is also considered in the municipality. It is reason for Midden-Drenthe to make the tickets available for free.

Bertien Minco, director of the Remembrance Center, calls the action ‘A beautiful gesture of connectedness’. We hope that this, among other things, people who have not been able to visit us before gives the opportunity to get to know this place so close to home, with such a great history, “she says.

Earlier, other municipalities also attracted the wallet for a free visit to the memory center. In March, Emmen decided to spend 50,000 euros on tickets for its residents. That was a follow -up to previous November promotion. Assen, Tynaarlo and Meppel also made a contribution.

Midden-Drenthe says that a maximum of six cards can be requested per household.
