After a blank year as Mercedes’ reserve in Formula 1, Mick Schumacher He will change registration in 2024 and will compete in the World Endurance Championship with the Alpine team. The French have entered two Hypercar A424, in the premier category of the WEC, and already have their lineup, with the notable addition of the son of seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher, who will join the French drivers. Nicolas Lapierre, Matthieu Vaxiviere, Charles Milesi and Paul-Loup Chatin and the Austrian Ferdinand Habsburg.

The 24-year-old German driver has seen the doors of Formula 1 close after competing for two seasons (2021 and 2022) with the Haas teamwhich replaced him with Nico Hulkenberg. Now, after being a reserve at Mercedes in 2023, Mick assures that “a new chapter begins for me with Alpine. I have grown up with single-seaters, so driving a car with a closed cockpit and covered wheels is a great opportunity to perfect my driving skills “.

“This year I’ve missed racing a lot. It’s what I’ve loved doing since I was a child and sometimes it was difficult to see the other drivers go out on the track,” Schumacher acknowledges. “Endurance racing is a new challenge for me and I am sure we will share great moments together next year with the team.” he adds.

Alpine has not yet revealed how it will distribute the six drivers between its two cars. He will announce it, along with the official final decoration of his hypercar, at the presentation they will make on February 7, 2024. Before that, in December, they are preparing a test in Portimao.
