Former F1 driver Mick Schumacher’s debut in the North American IndyCar series went quite poorly.
Schumacher, 26, driving in the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team, was already at the tail end of the group in qualifying. He started Sunday’s race on grid 21.
Schumacher’s race ended already in the opening lap, when he was involved in a mass crash involving three cars.
– We have to look at what things we could have done better. The time trial was at least one such point. It had consequences for Sunday, when the tail of the group cannot afford mistakes, Schumacher thought after the race weekend.
F1 legend Michael Schumacher’s son Mick drove in F1 in the Haas team in the 2021 and -22 seasons. After that, he worked as a substitute driver for Mercedes and McLaren.
Mick’s uncle Ralf Schumacher shared a rather harsh text when he talked about Mick’s F1 chances.
– With this step (IndyCar), that door has been closed, Ralf Schumacher admitted on Sky Germany.
