The first day of Formula 1 testing in Bahrain was already explosive. The new Mercedes caused quite a stir, Ferrari made a strong impression, but Pierre Gasly drove the best time in the AlphaTauri. On the second day of testing, Mick Schumacher and Max Verstappen also get into their cars.

Pierre Gasly drove the best time on Thursday in the AlphaTauri. In contrast to the two Ferrari drivers, however, he was on the road with a soft tire compound.

McLaren experienced a frustrating Thursday. Not only did Daniel Ricciardo drop out, but then Lando Norris also had major problems with his car.

The season has really started again and already there is the first controversy in Formula 1 – and again the two rivals Mercedes and Red Bull cause confrontations. The Silver Arrows’ new W13 attracted attention with its enormously small sidepods and clearly differed from the rest of the field.

According to media reports, this caused trouble for Christian Horner. “The new Mercedes violates the spirit of the regulations. For us, some parts are not legal,” the magazine “Auto Motor und Sport” quoted the Red Bull team boss on Thursday morning. A denial from the racing team followed promptly.

However, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff already reacted to the alleged Horner attack. “Half an hour after seeing the car for the first time, how does he know that our car is supposed to be illegal?” the Austrian wondered.
