Influencer and former blogger Michelle Bollen (32) from Uden is taking a striking step: she is using her maiden name again. On Instagram she openly says that this comes after a turbulent period, in which she said goodbye to her polyamorous relationship with Koen Bollen and best friend Jacqueline van Pelt. From now on she will be called Michelle Carolina Walk again.
According to Michelle, taking her maiden name symbolizes personal growth and self-love. “I wore my married name mainly out of love for someone else. This name was out of love for myself,” she writes. For her it is a way to put herself first again and mark a new chapter.
“That name symbolizes daring to be who I am.”
Michelle emphasizes that it is not just a practical change, but also an emotional statement. “Wherever life will take me from now on, that name symbolizes daring to be who I am, finally loving me, choosing my heart, and staying true to myself. And I will never do that differently,” she shares.
“It’s the first page of a new chapter of my life.”
Michelle became known for her blogs and vlogs about family life with Koen, with whom she had four children. They shared their lives openly on Instagram and TikTok. In 2022 she announced that she had a polyamorous relationship with Koen and their best friend Jacqueline van Pelt. They lived together with their seven children on a large farm in Brabant.
One came last summer end of the love triangle: Koen and Jacqueline continued together, while Michelle continued to live in the farm.
She talked about the breakup in her podcast That’s so us: “People said they had a right to know something. I get it, because people sympathize, but I’m trying to figure it out for myself. Ending the relationship felt like the best decision for everyone.” She also admitted that someone close to her leaked information, which bothered her a lot.
What is a polyamorous relationship?
A polyamorous relationship is a romantic or sexual relationship in which someone can be involved with multiple partners at the same time. It is important that everyone involved is informed and agrees with the situation. Openness, honesty and respect for each other’s boundaries are central.
