Sommelier Nadine Mögling from restaurant Bij Jef on Texel has been named ‘Sommelier of the year 2023’. That happened today during the presentation of the Michelin stars 2023 in the DeLaMar Theater in Amsterdam. The inspectors credit Mögling’s “stunning knowledge” and her unique way of keeping track of the wines. The totally surprised Mögling is not only proud, but also very grateful: “I dedicate it to our team.”
“It shouldn’t just be tasty. I have to get butterflies in my stomach,” writes wine connoisseur and wine advisor Nadine Mögling on the website of the restaurant in Den Hoorn. ‘Bij Jef’ by Jef Schuur and Nadine Mögling will again receive a Michelin star this year.
Final exam
In a packed DeLaMar Theater she is fully congratulated on her title of ‘Sommelier of the Year 2023’. “I got a little dizzy when I heard it. I’m honored and grateful. It’s not just for me. I therefore dedicate the award to our team.”
Despite the title and the congratulations, she doesn’t dare to compliment herself. “I’m not going to do that.” No time for celebration, because Mögling has to return to Texel quickly to assist her son with the final exam. “I need biology, economics and math. Part of the deal.”
