Controversy broke out in Montilivi just before the break, in a match against Málaga that Girona ended up winning with Nahuel Bustos’s goal. A controversy that had a name and surname: Samu Sáiz. The Girona midfielder did not like being substituted before the end of the first 45 minutes and while his change was happening he decided to throw his shirt in the air and sing three horrible words towards his coach, who was in the box when he was sanctioned.

“You’re a clown,” said Samu Sáiz on more than one occasion as he left the field of play. A very unpleasant image that did not go unnoticed at a press conference. The player was pissed off about being substituted and singled out, but so was Michel at his reaction.
“I haven’t talked to him. I understand that he was upset, but I am also with his minutes on the pitch. He wasn’t working well under pressure. I have to make decisions, it’s the first time I’ve made a change before the break. We had to change the dynamic at that time,” said the Girona coach.
