Michael van Gerwen again eliminated in the semifinals

Michael van Gerwen got stuck in the semi-finals in the eleventh round of the Premier League. The 33-year-old darts great from Vlijmen lost 6-5 to Gerwyn Price in Brighton, England.

So once again no day victory for Van Gerwen. Nevertheless, he will enter the twelfth round as leader of the ranking, which will be played in Rotterdam Ahoy next week. Van Gerwen has so far managed to win three rounds in the top competition, but his last day victory dates from March in Liverpool, the sixth round.

He had convincingly qualified for the semi-finals in Brighton by beating the Belgian Dimitri Van den Bergh 6-2. Van Gerwen trailed 2-1, but went on to win five legs in a row. It was the eleventh consecutive time that Van Gerwen beat the Belgian.

The semi-final against Price was high and exciting. The Welshman had five match darts needed to win. Van Gerwen came close to a 9-darter once in the match. Price would go on to win the tournament by beating Michael Smith 6–3 in the final. He is looking forward to stopping Van Gerwen from a day victory in Rotterdam as well. The favorite from Vlijmen starts the twelfth round with a match against Nathan Aspinall.
