Michael Tsokos criticizes color ban for tattoo artists: “Absolutely unjustified”!

Colorful ink has been banned in tattoo studios since the beginning of the year. This is regulated by a new EU regulation. The tattoo artists see black! Now Germany’s best-known forensic pathologist Michael Tsokos (54) has spoken in the BZ. He says: “I think that’s absolutely unjustified!”

According to Tsokos, one in five Germans has a tattoo, and in the 20-29 age group it is even one in two. Is there a connection between certain color pigments and serious diseases such as cancer?

The professor: “In the literature I have not found a case in which a person who had a tattoo was demonstrably badly damaged in his health by the now banned tattoo colors.”

Tsokos points out: “I am a forensic doctor and always look at the result from the point of view of death.” There is always a risk that viral or bacterial pathogens could cause severe allergic skin reactions.

“But it has never been proven that a person has died as a result of a tattoo, e.g. B. suffering from cancer and fatal heavy metal poisoning as a result of chromium, nickel, copper and other heavy metals contained in the tattoo inks has never been proven,” says the professor.
