One of his defenders, Cary London, told the “New York Post”: “Unfortunately we live in a world in which someone like Mr. Pitt – an accomplished professional who would never consider such crimes – can be arrested due to the unported statements of a disturbed individual. We see the proof of his innocence through the evidence and not through the media.”
Jason Goldman, another of his lawyers, added to “TMZ”: “In reality, this unfounded claim is suspected about four or five years after the alleged incident, at a time when the two parties were in a completely amicable and voluntary relationship. This lawsuit will be rejected.” What Goldman did not mention is that even a mutual relationship does not protect against sexual coercion or violence and not from accusations and possible criminal prosecution.
