“He’s not interested in that at all.”
Bayern star Olise foregoes million-dollar sum

Michael Olise is one of the biggest stars at FC Bayern. But he deliberately misses out on an enormous source of income.
FC Bayern had a fabulous season in the Bundesliga. The Munich team did not go through the season undefeated, but they collected a whopping 89 points on the way to the undisputed championship and set a new record with 122 goals. It is no surprise that they also have the best player of the season. Last Saturday, Michael Olise was presented with the Bundesliga Player of the Year award.
The Frenchman, who has been with Bayern since the summer of 2024, has developed into one of the best wingers in the world and therefore also one of Munich’s biggest stars. On the pitch he not only stands out with his spectacular dribbling and impressive goal finishes, but also purely visually. Olise regularly changes his football boots to visually match his team’s kit. He wears red shoes with the red home jersey and black shoes with the black third jersey.

What at first glance seems like a purely aesthetic gimmick actually has an unusual background. Unlike the majority of professional footballers, Olise does not have a contract with a personal outfitter. This would not only tie him to certain models – usually the latest ones from his supplier – but also to current color variations. Ultimately, the players are supposed to promote the products that are currently being sold by the sporting goods manufacturers.
Contracts with outfitters bring in millions for footballers
At the same time, these personal contracts can be a huge source of income for footballers. Lionel Messi (at Adidas) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Nike) have signed lifetime contracts and are expected to collect several hundred million euros. One of Olise’s teammate also makes a considerable sum: According to the “Bild” newspaper, Jamal Musiala collects six million euros per year from his outfitter Nike.
It’s a source of income that Olise deliberately misses out on – and has been since the beginning of his career. A confidant of the Frenchman recently explained in an interview with the French sports newspaper “L’Équipe”: “He doesn’t have a contract, that doesn’t interest him at all.”
