Michael Jackson’s Biopic is supposed to flicker this autumn over the large screens. However, the film producer seems to be thinking about a changed implementation of the project.
So far too much material for just one film
“Michael” should tell the history of the musician together with his private life and his career. The filming has now been completed, and yet it doesn’t seem easy to put the life of the King of Pop into a single film. According to “The Hollywood Reporter”, the current version of the film has a length of almost four hours. One try to present as much as possible from his life. The producer Graham King is therefore currently to consider switching from a strip to two.
In order to implement this, several partners would first have to agree to the change, including the Jackson estate, Lionsgate and Universal. The start date is currently still on October 3, 2025. In view of the possible division, it is speculated whether the date could shift again.
There is criticism before publication
So far, only a few precise information about the film has been known. So far, a first trailer has only been shown on the “Cinemacon” in April 2024 and reports that it was well received. In the meantime, however, complications occurred during the shooting after the singer’s estate did not want to address the allegations of sexual abuse against the US superstar who died in 2009. According to “NME”, the entire third act had to be re -turned. There are no concrete details of the disputes.
This already caused violent criticism: Dan Reed, director of the documentary series “Leaving Netherland”, in which the focus is on the allegations against Michael Jackson, said that the biopic will “glorify a man who has raped children”. Jackson, who also had to answer to court in this regard during his lifetime, was once acquitted.
To roles the biopics
The role of Michael Jackson himself takes on his nephew Jaafar Jackson for the film adaptation. Juliano Krue Valdi is supposed to represent the younger version of the singer. In addition, Kat Graham, who is primarily known from the “The Vampire Diaries” series, will play Diana Ross. The occupation of many other roles is already known.
