Mich makes the dark sound of new wave and post-punk frivolous and molds songs from it ★★★★☆

A reference to The Cure is not missing in any Mich review, but what else could you ask for? Also on their third album Nuts after two or three seconds they have you so far that you cannot ignore it: that guitar line by Piet Parra, it is unmistakable.

It is a delightful indie hit, by the way, that opening number A Hassleseductively sung by Sofie Winterson.

Mich, from Amsterdam, borrows scratchy guitars, dancing basses, freeze-dried drums, synthesizers and reverb from the arsenals of new wave and post-punk, but does something relatively rare with it: the band makes that usually dark sound frivolous and bouncy, molds songs from it. of which on Nuts only one exceeds the three-minute mark (The Shelfthree minutes and one second).

The songs get better with each album and also start to sound more beautiful (because more spacious), like stylized sculptures of music. Back to Bed, Relapsedthe title song; they are in almost every case irresistible in their mobile nervousness.

Mich does relatively few performances (in a different line-up than in the studio), but they can be seen live a few times at the end of December and in January.
