Mexican O’Ward wins IndyCar race in Alabama

The Mexican Patricio O’Ward won the fourth race of the IndyCar series.

The 22-year-old from Team Arrow McLaren SP won his third win in the US series in Birmingham/Alabama, just ahead of last year’s Spanish champion Alex Palou (Chip Ganassi Racing).

Dutchman Rinus VeeKay (Ed Carpenter Racing) completed the podium.

Two-time champion Josef Newgarden (USA/Penske), winner of the previous two races, finished 14th. As a result, Palou took the overall lead in the championship.

The Spaniard is three points clear of Newgarden’s New Zealand teammate Scott McLaughlin and nine ahead of Newgarden.
