According to information received from diplomatic sources, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan instructed Minister Çavuşoğlu, who will represent Turkey at the swearing-in ceremony of Brazil’s newly elected President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to attend Pele’s funeral.
Çavuşoğlu will attend the funeral for Pele, which will be held in Santos, Brazil, on January 2.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento, a football player known as Pele and who achieved extraordinary success in the history of football, died on December 29 in the hospital where he was treated in Sao Paulo.
