MIlano, May 29. (askanews) – “I want to see more young candidates and more women candidates, we don’t have enough. I have been in the European Parliament for 12 years and even if last year we had the highest participation in the vote ever, proportionally the age of candidates and the increase in women is not growing as I would like. politics”.
This was said by the president of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola intervening to “Europe: open questions for a common future” at the Catholic University of Milan.
“Politics is difficult – he told the students – but if you do with principles, values, respect and tolerance it is beautiful. It is difficult to do politics and be a woman in politics, but I think that if you are here you are on the right route” he concluded.
