Meta warns: These accounts will be deleted soon

You risk losing apps, achievements, and other content associated with your Oculus account.

Meta has approached users of Oculus vr products by email and warned them of the impending account deletion. If users haven’t already transferred their Oculus account content to a Meta account, now is the time to do so.

If users still want to use Meta’s vr glasses and other vr products in the future and keep the old purchases, credits, achievements, friend list and other content made on the Oculus account, the transfer to the Meta account must be made before March 29. On that date, Oculus accounts will be deleted.

If the account is deleted, and the Meta account is not in use, the use of Meta Quest devices with the account will no longer be possible, and the recovery of the content will not be possible.

A successful transfer of the account and its contents requires that the Meta account be activated with the same email address associated with the old Oculus account.

This is not a completely new thing, as holders of old Oculus accounts have been advised to switch to Meta account users as early as October 2022, and logging into an Oculus account has not been successful since January 2023. In 2020, new users were required to log in with a Facebook account, but in 2022, the option to use a separate Meta account became available.

The paths of Meta, then Facebook, and Oculus, which produced VR glasses, joined in 2014, when Facebook bought Oculus. The Oculus brand changed to Meta 2022.
